TURF Marshaling at the OSC

SUMMARY

  • WATER IS THE ONLY CONSUMABLE ALLOWED ON TURF
  • NO SPIKES OR CHAIRS THAT MAY PUNCTURE TURF
  • TEAMS AND OFFICIALS ONLY ON TURF

Marshaling Overview (Grass & Turf)

 

A Marshal is required for each turf field rented as well as each additional exit open.

A Marshal is required for each grass field rented, and can cover two grass fields.

Marshals should be courteous and greet each each coach and head referee. Marshals should pleasantly remind visitors to clean up after themselves.

 

 

Upon Arrival

Marshals must be on station ready to go as gates open to public.

They must have a high visibility yellow or orange vest and a CHARGED CELL PHONE

Ten minutes prior to opening to public, Marshals need to exchange text message numbers with Event Director, Facility Director, and the First Aid team.

Marshal should have a pen or pencil and lost child form to facilitate possible lost child procedures

Monitor and report any and all safety issues

  • Equipment
  • Field Conditions
  • CHECK FOR NEW GOPHER HOLES and PEBBLES
  • Crowd Behaviors (Rowdy, unsafe etc)
Protect Artificial Turf Warranty and Condition
  • Vigorously monitor and enforce water only rule for turf
  • Pointed Chairs and punctures
Enforce Field Rules
  • Keep people off unused fields - these are under repair and have not been rented - see map of day - here
  • No DOGS
  • No outside vendors
  • No Noisemakers
  • NO SUNFLOWER SEEDS
  • SMOKE FREE FACILITY
  • Keep SPECTATORS ON THEIR APPROPRIATE SIDELINE
  • Keep unauthorized vendors off field
 
Eyes and ears of Event Director
  • Game time
  • Missing refs
  • Other problems affecting smooth flow of event
  • Call for First Aid
Keep peace between referees, coaches, parents and players
  • Usually, if there is a chance of escalation, the Marshal can walk out on the field and raise hands and call for a halt.
  • IF NECESSARY, YOU MAY CANCEL GAME AND SEND COACHES to Main tent
  • CALL POLICE IF NECESSARY 779-2101 is better /quicker than 911 for the Center.

Trash Cleanup and Event Security Deposit

  • Marshals are to remind coaches and spectators to clean up after themselves in the provided trash cans
  • Marshals must alert Center staff of overfilled or fully loade4d trash and recycling cans so that they may be emptied
  • At end of day, Marshals shall call Facility manager to verify their fields are cleaned and undamaged for security deposit reconciliation reports.
